Hiking Gear for 2021

Gear Gear Gear. Everybody loves gear.

One thing right off the bat. Your hiking/backpacking gear needs are probably (almost certainly) different than mine. So, don’t just buy all of this. That wouldn’t be a good idea. That said, I hope you find at least some of the information in this video helpful and relevant.

I’ll say that most of my hiking happens in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains and mostly in the summer (which can still get down below freezing). I tend to run pretty cold as well, so I’m brining a warmer jacket/sleeping kit than some people might need. I’m mostly doing weekend trips with the occasional longer trip and sometimes will bring up to 15 pounds of photo and video gear with me (not shown in this video) for creative projects. So… this gear list is optimized for all of that. It’s also (a lot of it at least) pretty expensive. Since I’m brining so much camera gear, I need the rest of it to be light and that comes at a price. I also just like buying higher quality things and having them last a long time. So, just know all of that going in and make your own decisions on what’s relevant/useful/etc. Cool? Cool.
